Boogie Effects – Get your dancing shoes on…..

Boogie Effects take over our Blog: Founded and created here in Scotland by ex-dancers Frances and Yvonne. This is an exhilarating Dance Fitness workout that brings together all the heart pumping fun of BOOGIE with the strength & conditioning EFFECTS of dance/ballet inspired technique.  This uplifting and powerful blend creates long, lean, healthy bodies with a strong focus on muscle connection, posture development and body awareness.

We aim to create a fun and lively class with amazing tunes from all eras. You’ll just want to get your dancing shoes on!  We balance that with a focused and powerful conditioning section. That teaches you to truly connect with the body and strengthen from deep within.  And we finish it all with a wonderful restoring stretch, leaving you feeling balanced and recovered.

Dance has the ability to improve & inspire body, mind and soul.  At BOOGIE EFFECT we believe in healthy body, healthy mind in equal measure.  We believe fitness isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about creating joy and social bonding that benefits the whole body.”

Our moto… danceFIT danceSTRONG danceHAPPY!

Best things in life are free!

Kathleen Anderson, Sweaty Hugs.

So many of us associate fitness and exercise with a gym membership that costs an arm and a leg but it does not have to be that way. Free fitness is out there and easier to find that you think. There are communities, social groups and companies that all provide free workouts right on your doorstep.

  • ParkRun – 5km runs across the country that are always free. There is a great community with ParkRun and it is a great way to see a city if you are visiting for the weekend and want to get a workout in –
  • Project Awesome – free workout that happens every Wednesday at 6:30am in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Bristol & London. Such a great laugh, strong community and lots of bright neon workout clothing.
  • Lululemon Stores – Stores across the world hold free workouts in-store every week. This gives you a chance to try out styles of exercise that you never normally would. Added bonus – sometimes there are free goodies. Cheek out your local store’s Facebook page to find out what is happening in-store this week.
  • Sweaty Betty – Stores in the UK host free workouts in-store. They announce when these will be on their individual store Facebook pages.
  • Free Trials – don’t forget to check if a studio, gym or classoffers a free trial to new members. Its worth checking their website to find out as it means you can try out something new without breaking the bank balance.
  • EventBrite – They have a filter that allows you to see what events are free in your local area. I have found a number of workouts through this and it has meant i have discovered new places, people and workouts in my city.

Thanks Kath for guesting on our blog.

We have had a great day down at the Sweat It Festival venue, Argyle St Arches with some of our old friends. We have been working out who and what goes where. Great way to spend the last day of a VERY long month.

The venue is just perfect for our festival, lots of open space but feels magically snug too. So many memories of those arches. We’ll all the sweating in there like old times in a few months.

We are using all 6 arches to bring you, blast sessions, cooking demos, chatter zone, activity zones and of course a refuel zone.
